CHEMICAL OXIDATION: PERSULFATE

ISOTEC’s persulfate technology uses sodium persulfate, activated by our patented modified Fenton’s reagent, patented carbohydrate (food grade) activation, alkaline reagents (including sodium hydroxide and lime), hydrogen peroxide, our patented chelated iron complex or optimized combinations to produce sulfate and hydroxyl free radicals that attack contaminants. Persulfate is particularly effective at treating contaminants from aromatics like benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes; and, chlorinated solvents such as perchloroethene (PCE) and trichloroethene (TCE). ISOTEC uses both injection and soil mixing methods to deliver reagents to impacted soils and groundwater. The reaction mechanism associated with our persulfate-based process is shown below:
